Hi, I just peeked at the community and see that it's not overly active, but not dead in the water, either way. So I hope you guys don't mind if I post every now and again. That said, let me introduce myself. ^_^

I'm Komadori, and I've been overweight since high school (which is a good while, since I'll be 32 in July). It's been from 180 to 285 since I was 17, a few pounds added a year, if you average it out, though the last few years, it's been as high as 295 and as low as 230 (back in 2003).

When I had lost weight from 280 - 230 in 2003, I thought I'd keep it off, but my lifestyle changed, and up it went. And since then, I've been ignoring the issue. --Until it affected my health to the extent that I'm now borderline diabetic.

So, though in the past, my goal was to lose weight, this time, it's to get in shape. I've already changed my diet, since finding out. I've lost 10 pounds since(thus the 295 number. It may have been higher at some point but I wasn't weighing myself at the time...). All because I cut down my starches and cut out regular sugar.

I'm looking at the Hacker's Diet, now, and so I'm starting to log my weight, starting at what it is currently. I'm also going to start doing what worked for me the last time, which is mainly having my large meal for breakfast and cutting down on my diet sodas while drinking more water.

I look forward to hearing from people on the group. Please, don't be shy. Share what you are having issues with and what's working for you. :) That's what this place is for, right? ^_^

I'm a scale junkie. Every time I go to the kitchen (where we keep the scale) I hop on. I've been doing that, as always, and last night Jess said, "You must be losing weight, you haven't cursed at the scale in a while. Know what? I'm not. I'll have to report a slight gain this weeek. But... I'm okay with that. Know what? I've lost almost 45 pounds. No, I'm not at a healthy weight yet, but I'm healthier than I have ever been. Ever. I'm no longer "that fat chick." I cook all my meals and only go out once (maybe twice) a week. When I do, I no longer crave really bad stuff. I used to drink at least three sodas a day. Now, I drink two a week, usually one. When I started running, my running program had me walking for two minutes then running for one. That was difficult. I didn't have the stamina to run for a whole minute. Now? I run six miles an hour at a 10% grade incline. I started to look at training programs for 5Ks and laughed at them because they were so easy! If I don't ever lose another pound I will be happy. I'm not saying that I'm quitting. I'm still going to try to lose, but I'm healthy. I'm not going to beat myself up for not losing! Why? I've achieved the major goal--I'm healthy.

What is your resting heart rate? I'm trying to calculate what heart rate I should up my cardio again, and am really surprised at the resting heart rate I keep getting. I'm going to take my heart rate before I start my treadmill workout today and see if I'm just doing something wrong... but it's only 42-48! Am I in that great of shape?! How can I be when I'm still so overweight?!

The kids are about to kill me. Yesterday I was actually really pumped up about being halfway to my goal weight. Every night Samantha asks me how my diet is going. I think she finds it novel that I'm dieting. She is skinny. She doesn't understand that this isn't a crash diet and I'm not trying to lose 5 or ten pounds. I'm trying to lose 70! She doesn't get that I will struggle always with my weight the same way I have always struggled with my weight. She always asks about my diet then says something like, "Sounds like you're not allowed to eat much." or "Wow, that doesn't sound like much food." She doesn't actually listen to the amount of food I'm eating, just makes a snap judgement because it's a "diet." She told me last night that I don't really need to lose weight. I'm sorry, honey, I do. She said, "Your diet is just so restrictive!" Ummm... no. It's not. I told her I had lost 35 pounds, but that I still have 35 to lose. She was shocked and said that I don't and that I look fine. She then started to talk about how her mom is getting a tummy tuck. Good for her. While she's paying for that you might want to ask where the child support money is. But that's a different story all together! We moved on from the weight discussion and Lexi told Samantha she liked her jeans. She asked what size they were (wondering if she could borrow them). She told her they were ones... that she usually wore threes, bur for some reason she got these in a one. That's when I turned to Jess and said, "Ummmm... that's why I need to be on a diet!" Samantha tried to stand up for herself by saying, "I used to be a nine!" I laughed and said I used to be a nine too! I wish I could be a nine again!" I was a nine at my lowest weight ever! Jess just turned to her and said, "When were you ever that big?!" She said, "In 8th and 9th grade. I was CHUBBY! You should have seen my gut! I have pictures to prove it!" Yeah... that made me feel better. A LOT better.... right.

Hello! I'm Alex, and thought some people here might find this to be of use. This site primarily emphasizes food finds that are low in calories and fat (and WW points if you count), but also tasty and convenient. It offers a very vast selection and shows how easy it can be to maintain a healthy weight without having to deprive yourself. There are almost no "Diet" foods, though there are some, because the focus is on every day food that you would actually want to eat even if you aren't dieting.

It is updated every day, and offers recipes, restaurant finds, healthy weight loss/management tips, and comparison of food items. It's also cute and humorous...

So, anyway, here is the link http://www.hungry-girl.com
And if you'd like to subscribe to daily e-mails, you can subscribe here:http://www.hungry-girl.com/subscribe/subscribe.php

If you do subscribe, you would help me out (for a contest) if you put the e-mail address of: Julyjazzed@yahoo.com in the "How Did You Discover Hungry Girl" section! (If I win, you would win, too). So if you do end up doing that, thank you much!

Almost there!

So I've been dieting for about a year and a half now.  Thusf ar my results have been very fruitful.  I have lost 75 pounds and am very please with my progress.  But I have this damned last 15 pounds to lose that just doesn't want to come off.  Does anyone have any suggestions about the best way to lose that last bit of weight? I know its the hardest to get off but any suggestions would be helpful.  Thanks.

Hello all. I'm new here, and I'm what most people would call thin. I'm between 5'2" and 5'3", and I weigh roughly anywhere between 114-116 pounds (it alters a bit every day). But I want to lose some weight, ideally ten pounds, but more realistically five pounds. I eat very healthy, rather small meals, and exercise at least three days a week, more if school work permits it. My problem is that I cannot control myself when I am home alone and there is any form of junk food in the house; I'll tell myself over and over again that I don't want it, that I'm not hungry for it, and that I'll only hate myself for eating it, and then I still eat it. Sometimes I'll even make weird mixtures of things like cookies and peanut butter; I don't know what comes over me! It's like my brain turns off and I can't stop myself. Then I feel guilty and sick and I do something like try to throw up or take laxatives to get rid of the food, which only makes me feel sicker. Why I'm here is that I'm looking for support; I don't want to tell my friends (or parents) because I've already had an eating disorder scare in the past, and I know from that experience that everyone will try to force-feed me fattening food, telling me to love myself and not care about fat and calories. I love them for caring about me, but I'm trying to become thin by being healthy, not learn to love a fat, unhealthy body. I thought that by coming here and having people to confide in that I would learn to get rid of my binging habits. So that's my introduction. Nice to meet you all!

hello, I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself and point out how much i've learned just by reading the comments and tips from the last 40 entries... mainly that i can eat lunch today!! yay! I thought a three day fast at the beginning of my new diet would rid my body of any toxins and sort of prepare a clean slate, if you will. Apparently, fasting isn't going to help anything.

Name: Sarah
Location: Austin Texas
Age: 27
Current Height: 5'4"
Current Weight: 142
Highest Weight: 145 (after having son)
Lowest Weight: 122 (after having son)
Desired Weight: 128-though i don't mind if i'm 142 and have a tight, toned body. It's not about the weight loss for me... it's about visible results. I'm okay with my size.. just not okay with the flab.

I should mention that i have gained every pound back that i lost after having my child. My methods of weight loss were unhealthy at best, and illegal at worst. I've closed that chapter of my life and i'm ready to make healthier decisions for myself and my son. I want to do it right this time and see permanent results.

I plan on cutting my daily calorie intake dramatically. I plan on 40 minutes of cardio (running) three times a week, in addition to a Pilates Burn and Pilates Abs workout routine daily. On the other four days of the week, i will work on sculpting my arms, legs, booty. I'm wondering if i'm biting off more than i can chew. Does this seem extreme or do-able?

Hey guys! I really need to start a diet soon, for health purposes. I know that I need to lose weight because, medically, I'm not in good shape. I lack, however, a number of things, mainly motivation.

Any advice, tips and kind words greatly appreciated. :)

Hello all, as you can tell, I'm new *waves*
I'm not very good with introductions, so here I go, it might be short.
I'm Alicia, fifteen (yes I know I'm young), 5'5 & somewhere between the 185-190 range. But i do have a muscular build & am ready for a change. Its sort of long/hard to explain.
I am confused about a few things, but I think that maybe I just need some motivation.
Things are explained better in my actual journal, so if maybe you could drop by & leave some helpful or inspiring comments there?

Please & thank you. I'll try to update every now & then to say how things are going with me & check up on you guys also. :)

So I just joined this community because I find it near impossible to motivate myself to lose weight. I have the desire, but it just isn't enough when I don't have any other motivation. It's sad to say, but I find it helps more if I have others to help keep me motivated, even if it with reverse motivation or by telling how fat I am or whatever. Eh. I am 21, 5'5" and currently 170. That is the highest I have ever been, and in the last 2 years I have gained the last 40 of those pounds. I know it is partly because of my schedule - a full time college student who was also working in a doctor's office part time - but now I am only a full time college student, looking for a new job, and hoping to drop at least 25 if not 30 lbs. It seems impossible though! I can't seem to find the time everyday to work out like I should or just decide that sleep would be more beneficial... I lost almost 15 lbs this summer and then put it back on plus some. My weight fluctuates with stress and that doesn't help either. :( I am getting married in September and would love to have lost some of my "burden" by then, Sept. 22! But right now I definately need motivation and possibly lots of advice. :o) This community looked like a great place to find the support I need!

Anyway, just introducing myself and looking forward to getting to know y'all! :o)

Hey all
I'm new! I'm here for support mainly. I am 21 years old, 5ft5 and approaching 160lbs! I'm not quite sure what's going on here! I bought an AB Lounge, some Trimspa, and got a gold's gym membership for Christmas. I AM READY! Lol...now I need to motivate. I think as long as look at myself naked I'll get going. Blah...
There is one other thing...I haven't seen hide nor hair of my period since October...I'm wondering if I am gaining weight due to this? (and no, I don't believe myself to be pregnant...3 home pregnancy tests have given me a negative reading on 3 separate occasions) I have a dr's appt. monday to figure that all out.
How do you all keep from being hungry all the time? What do you nsack on and does it keep your tummy from grumbling? Mine sounds like Satan and it is VERY loud...no lie lol. I think that's it for now...I hope someone took the time to read this and will talk to me and maybe be a diet buddy!

The Discovery Channel is hosting a National Fitness Challange from now through March. They have some meal planning options, a weight tracker (which is annoying to use, thanks to the flash interface..), some motivational stories, workout plans and, best of all, if you register you get 8 weeks free at Bally Total Fitness.

The Bally pass only seems to be available if you are using Internet Explorer, I could not get it from Firefox.
